MARCO COPPOLA
Energy Engineer
Hello! I'm Marco
I’m driven by both curiosity and passion for technology which led me to recently complete my studies in Energy Engineering at Politecnico di Milano.
My career goal is to secure a role that allows me to both apply and further develop my knowledge and skills in the energy sector, as well as to achieve increasing responsibility at an innovative and market-leading company.
EDUCATION
2016-2019
Master Degree In Energy Engineering
POLITECNICO DI MILANO
Completed the Master of Science in Energy Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano (110/110 with honours) , following the Power Production specialisation track. I acquired a strong theoretical background in thermodynamics, energy storage, renewable and traditional energy systems, and process chemistry.
2017
Erasmus+ Program
NORGES TEKNISK-NATURVITENSKAPELIGE UNIVERSITET
Participated to the Erasmus+ Program and studied 5 months at the Faculty of Engineering Science at NTNU. I had the opportunity to deepen my knowledge of natural gas industry, wind energy, bioenergy and gas cleaning technologies.
2018-2016
Bachelor Degree In Energy Engineering
POLITECNICO DI MILANO
Through the Energy Engineering program I learned how to deal with issues specific to thermodynamic conversion of the various forms of energy, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and environmental wellbeing.
2008-2013
High School Diploma
ITI A. BERNOCCHI
Graduated from high school following the Scientific-Technological specialisation. This course of study is characterised by a deepening of technical-scientific disciplines (e.g. chemistry, physics, technical drawing).
TRAINING
2018
ATHENS Programme - Energy Sources, Conversion And Storage
POLITECHNIKA WARSZAWSKA (WUT)
Attended a week long intensive course offered by the ATHENS programme at WUT in Warsaw. Studied various aspects of the energy sector, focusing on renewable sources, energy storage, and heat pumps.
2015
‘Introductory Level In Project Management’ Certification
INTERNATIONAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (IPMA)
Attended the Project Management course in which I acquired the fundamental knowledge and methodologies of Project Management with reference to the international model IPMA.

PROJECT
DEGRADATION OF HYDROGEN FUEL CELLS FOR AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATIONS

I developed a master thesis about the Degradation of Hydrogen Fuel Cells for Automotive Applications. The scope of this work was to validate new accelerated stress test (AST) for the different components of the fuel cell, with the final goal of introducing a new transfer function to link Accelerated Stress Test and real world operations.
To achieve these objectives new fuel cell hardware was designed and implemented, and both an experimental and technical modelling campaign were carried out.
An extract of the thesis, entitled ‘In-operand investigation of the degradation mechanisms during startup/shutdown in PEMFC for automotive application’ was presented during the 8th International Conference on Fundamentals & Development of Fuel Cells in Nantes, France on February 13, 2019.
